The Minnesota Turf and Grounds Foundation and the University of Minnesota annual Field Day provides turfgrass and related professionals an opportunity to learn about new research being conducted at the Turfgrass Research, Outreach and Education (TROE) Center. At this event, leading researchers will demonstrate their projects and how they directly benefit turfgrass and related industries. Suppliers and vendors for the turf and grounds industry will be on hand to demonstrate the latest products, services, and equipment available. Field Day also features a grounds track for those interested in learning about other forms of horticultural research taking place at the University. Lunch is provided and will be catered by Famous Dave's.

Local landscape lighting experts will walk you through the processes they employed in a lighting demonstration project at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Members of the Landscape Lighting Committee donated their time, product and expertise to design and install permanent new lighting near the Snyder Building at the Arboretum.

• 6:00-6:30pm: Networking / Social Time
• 6:30-6:45pm: Introduction and Welcome - Nels Peterson, N Design Partners
• 6:45-7:15pm: Design Process - Greg Flakne, Flakne's Exterior Design/Scape Co.
  • Flakne will first walk you through the design decision-making process on what to light, how to light, and which lighting products to use.
• 7:15-8:00pm: Installation Process - Randy Osmundson, Touchstone Accent Lighting and Gerry de la Vega, Terra Dek Lighting
  • Osmundson and De la Vega will discuss superior installation practices as well as the specific challenges faced on this job and the problem-solving techniques they used in this Arboretum demonstration project.
• 8:15-9:00pm: Lighting Live! A walking tour of a landscape lighting demonstration project at the Arboretum
  • Finally, the group will take a short walking tour of the demonstration project and experts will be on hand to answer your questions. In addition, mock set-ups of other lighting scenarios faced in the landscape will be provided so that attendees can see potential solutions to other applications.

Whether you're just beginning to use lighting in your landscapes or you've had some experience, this evening promises to provide great ideas on how to use landscape lighting as a growing profit center for your business. (This presentation will not be brand-specific, but will rather focus on best practices.)
